Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday 4th June 2008

 

Present: Karen Bale (KB), Karen Bown (KBo),  Phil Chamberlain (PC), Ceri Lougher (CL),  Lynne Chamberlain (LC),  Angharad Llewellyn ( AL ), Rebecca Davies (RD), Dave Walker (DW).

 

 

 

KB apologised that copies of the minutes from the previous meeting were not available.

Matters Arising.

 

  • Newsletters to be sent to Earl of Dunraven and Heritage Coast – KB to action. Ongoing.
  • Possibility of using a room in the Heritage Coast centre for wet weather training – KB to pursue with Belinda Ashong. Ongoing.
  • Party for Thursday and Friday nighters will cost approx £300 and has to be at 1900 on a Saturday. Cost to members will be £2.50/ticket. Families welcome. KB to action.  On hold at present pending final accounts from Nipper Camp as club may incur a loss due to dropouts.
  • Club to purchase 2x7ft swell boards – PC has ordered.  Delivery expected 9th June 2008.
  • RD is still hoping to organise a dress down day at work to raise funds.
  • KB has purchased a tent from France .  Another tent has been offered to the club by Mr and Mrs Wallace (founder member). PC to accept and arrange collection.
  • Having ascertained ownership of club buildings, DW is now trying to find out who holds the lease.
  • The Mayor of The Vale of Glamorgan Council has chosen Southerndown SLSC as one of her nominated charities for the year.  KB to write a wish list.
  • Team building day to be organised by Tom Dauncey -  Ongoing
  • Dolygaer weekend on hold pending further volunteers.
  • Junior awards.  Names for board and surf competencies to be submitted prior to St.Davids training weekend.
  • Jo Williams has returned her First Aid Room key and it has been passed on to Elinor Williams

  • Correspondence received from SLSA Wales advertising a vacancy for treasurer.
  • Patrols  -  Attendance so far has been appalling.  Some people have had problems opening the rota on the club website.  PC to send out rota again in Excel format and to reiterate to all members, the importance that patrolling commitments are met.
  • CL has had problems with some of the U16’s in her session generally misbehaving and not listening.  After issuing verbal warnings she has refused to let them train in the sea.  Those members will now be moved to the later training session coached by WH and KB.
  • Treasurers report was received.
