Committee Meeting Minutes 7/2/07
Southerndown Surf Life Saving Club
Minutes of the committee meeting Wednesday, February 7th.
Present : Karen, Will, Tom, Phil, Paul, Jane, Angharad, James, Delyth.
Matters Arising
Cannot advertise the New Years Day Dip , may have non members showing up to take part.
Cannot sit on side of pool at Atlantic College anymore, not insured to do so.
Remind nippers/juniors about the t-shirt competition.
Calendar can be Max?s project if he wants to take it on.
The collection for Karyn to be used to buy a shield for the presentation evening, most appropriate something for nippers.
Dave Jennings sending an electrician to sort out the switch and look at the heaters, probably broken and need replacing.
Everyone passed their bronze. Nars starting Sunday, 11th February. Letter with costing available, entrants to pay for their own exams.
Had refund for the dates the pool sessions had to be cancelled.
Equipment has arrived from Tesco?s.
6 new nipper boards ordered.
Karen
Been to technical commission meeting, nothing to report. New first aid booklet, new welsh awards book.
All nipper/juniors to wear swimming hats on the beach this Summer. Becky has ordered extra. In the future, try to get them to wear Southerndown Rash Vests as well.
Will
Problems with inexperienced members in unsuitable gear turning up for board training on Sunday. Must be Sunday night swimmers and have board competency. A session for the younger, less experienced will resume in the Summer.
Signal flags missing, £130 plus VAT for new ones. Paul to ask Aberavon where they get theirs. Also need radios for patrols. Defibrilator to cost between £1500 and £2500.
Summer patrols to run from 10-6, Saturday and Sunday, split into 2 4 hour shifts. Rotas to be drawn up, if unavailable must find someone to do your shift. This is for those holding nars or lifesavers. Younger children will follow the old system, doing 12-2.

Condolences to Glyn, Bev and the boys, Glyn?s brother passed away today.
Selling ducks for SLSA Wales for a duck race.
£6000 balance in the bank.
Example of membership card from Aberavon, name number and all the dates for the year?s events. Paul to make one up as an example.
Club now full, waiting lists in operation.
A lady from Southerndown has bequeathed over £600 to the club. Look into an organisation called Sportsmatch to match this bequest, maybe buy a defib in her memory.
Gift aid should amount to £1000 this year.
Angharad
Mini leagues going well. Last one this coming Sunday. A team lying in 6th place and B team in 14th place.
Nipper competition 17 competitors, 4 medals, not many entrants for Welsh, just 9.
New fins purchased prior to Welsh stillwaters, in all sizes.
