Southerndown Surf Lifesaving Club.
Minutes of the meeting on Wednesday 5th December 2007.

Matters Arising
Proposed date for the presentation evening will be 18th January in Cowbridge Rugby Club unless an alternative venue is available (RD to look into). DJ booked. The committee will arrange a buffet. Tickets will be £5.00, on sale now.
Still chasing competency fees, the list is in the red file on the beach - ongoing, in future exam fees will be paid before an entry is made.
Rhoose nipper pool gala cancelled, club to run gala event for thursday/friday nights - good practice for the still water competitions. SLSAW stillwater 3rd of February.
CL will look into the organising a child protection course run by Sports Coach UK - ongoing, club has contact details.
New recruitment process in place, progressing well.
CL will draw up some league tables to have mini competitions during junior & senior training to encourage more people to compete. Ceri will also organise a club open / competition day next summer. - ongoing.
Deposit paid to Kracka (£1090) £1090 still to pay.
CJ Requested a list of junior & senior telephone numbers to obtain interested people for the mini leagues - ongoing. Newsletters are going out and competition info is on website - first mini league on 13th January..
Younger members need to be encouraged to compete as a team & older members need to compete - encouragement for the younger members - ongoing, Galas arranged for Thursday and Friday nights.
RD's work will hopefully hold a dress down day to raise money from the club - ongoing.
E-mail circulation list to send out newsletters etc - ongoing.
WH to price up a tent/ marquee for the beach from the money donated from the channel paddle - ongoing
Oxygen kit and defib arrived. WH to look into disposing of old cylinders.
Starting in the next few weeks, nipper parents are going to sell the club clothing during nipper training - completed, approx £300 collected..
Any Other Business
Will - New years day dip, it was agreed to open to all club members, providing under 18s are accompanied by a responsible adult. Agreed, unanimous. Meet at 1430 for 1500 swim on Jan 1st 2008. KB to publicise via newsletters/website
Following advice from SLSAW BOM, suggested club look into purchasing lease for building (first aid room, craft hut, changing rooms). DW to report back rega - rding legal situation current leaseholder etc with a view to setting up a sub committee at the next meeting.
Two parents are ready to take SLSAW nipper coach award, once child protection course is done. Asked club to pay £10 per coach towards the award. Agreed, unanimous.
Tom - Suggested a team building excercise for club seniors. Agreed. Paintballing suggested by RD/TD. WH to price up, TD to gauge interest amongst senior club members.
Phil - University membership is currently £25/year, suggested students be asked to pay £2.10/month rather than £25 lump sum to cover January to January. Agreed, unanimous. PC to organise.
Aled Oakley has left club.
Membership for summer season only set at £25, providing person is a NARS holder and has permission from their club to join.
Karen- Current discipline problems - suggested sending copy of club rules to members houses. Agreed, KB to oversee.
Club T shirts on order.
Suggested sponsored swim for Thursday/Friday nights in pyjamas. Agreed, KB to set date and publicise via newsletters/website.
Suggested all points amassed by a member in club galas and national championships to be collated by club. individual with most points to get award at presentation evening eg competitor of the year. Discussion of whether to include points from rankings and other events - decision to be made at later date
