Minutes of the meeting on Wednesday 2nd  January 2008.

 

 

Present: Karen (KB), Phil (PC), Will (WH), Tom (TC), Joanne (JW).

Minutes of December meeting read and accepted as a true record

 

 

Matters Arising

 

  

Due to lack of information/progress regarding presentation evening in Cowbrigde Rugby Club, it was decided to cancel and re arrange for 22nd February 2008 in Ewenny and Corntown Cricket club. PC to book and WH to contact cowbridge RFC to cancel and book DJ for 22nd. Sale of tickets postponed until confirmation of new venue recieved from PC. Trophies have been ordered, KB to collect. WH to contact club members re return of last years trophies.

 

 

Club to run gala event for thursday/friday nights - complete, KB and WH would like to thank all helpers. SLSAW stillwater 3rd of February - KB to contact Carol Jones re teams, payment etc.

 

 

CL will look into the organising a child protection course run by Sports Coach UK - ongoing, club has contact details.

 

 

CL will draw up some league tables to have mini competitions during junior & senior training to encourage more people to compete. Ceri will also organise a club open / competition day next summer. - ongoing.

 

 

Deposit paid to Kracka (£1090) £1090 still to pay - ongoing, Ray Dauncy is communicating with Kracka.

 

 

CJ Requested a list of junior & senior telephone numbers to obtain interested people for the mini leagues - ongoing.

 

 

RD's work will hopefully hold a dress down day to raise money for the club - ongoing.

 

 

E-mail circulation list to send out newsletters etc - ongoing.

 

  

WH  to price up a tent/ marquee for the beach from the money donated from the channel paddle - ongoing WH to discuss possibility of sponsorship David Walker

 

 

WH to look into disposing of old oxygen cylinders - ongoing. WH to report back when disposal complete.

 

 

Following advice from SLSAW BOM, suggested club look into purchasing lease for building (first aid room, craft hut, changing rooms). DW to report back rega - rding legal situation current leaseholder etc with a view to setting up a sub committee at the next meeting.- ongoing

 

 

Two parents are ready to take SLSAW nipper coach award, once child protection course is done. Asked club to pay £10 per coach towards the award. Agreed, unanimous. - ongoing waiting for a CP course to run.     

 

  

Team building excercise for club seniors. Paintballing approx £35 or teambuilding day including paintball £45. TD to gauge interest amongst senior club members - ongoing.

 

 

Membership for summer season only set at £25, providing  person is a NARS holder and has permission from their club to join, also must be agreed by club committee. 

 

  

Current discipline problems - KB suggested sending copy of club rules to members houses. Agreed, KB to oversee. - ongoing

Club T shirts have arrived and will be sold at training (KB/WH to oversee)

Sponsored swim for Thursday/Friday nights in pyjamas. Agreed, KB to set date and publicise via newsletters/website.- ongoing.

 

 

KB Suggested all points amassed by a member in club galas and national championships to be collated by club. individual with most points to get award at presentation evening eg competitor of the year. Discussion of whether to include points from rankings and other events - decision to be made at later date - ongoing

 

  

Any Other Business

 

  

Will -   New Years Day dip a success with 7 swimmers and many supporters collecting money, approx £30 raised.

 

            Paul Stephens has resigned as secretary of SLSAW sports comission, all agreed it is important for club to have a representative at sports commission meetings, WH to go on a short term basis until    someone else is found to go as he is also club representative on youth and technical (alongside KB) commissions.

 

 

Karen-            Requested cheque for trophies, agreed.

 

            Suggested attendance awards for nippers, agreed, KB to action. It is possible to do this for thursday and sunday nights when registers are taken every week. If so it was agreed it would not include board     and ski sessions.

 

 

Richard - submitted treasurers report, intends to do so every month.

 

 

Phil -    Paid £115 to SLSAW for insurance and club affiliation

 

            Paid £1484 to SLSAW for individual memberships.

 

            Has rewritten consent forms for over 18s to sign - PC to ensure they are signed.

 

            Do non active members need to be registered with SLSAW - KB to investigate.

 

 

Joanne - Will Dol Y Gaer trip go ahead this year? committee decided it should, but will need planning and more help than has been given in the past to run. 6-7 September as possible date. Planning for it needs to         start asap - to be discussed further.

 

 

Tom -  Suggested a start of season camping trip - all agreed it was a good idea but probably wont be a club sanctioned event. Discussion needed. TC and WH to organise.

TC may be able to find us a coach for stillwater training. Discussion of payment, decided we wont pay but can give a gift of thanks.

 

 

TC, KB and JW discussed dates and times for stillwater training to be confirmed next meeting.

 

 

PC, KB, and WH worked to update membership records

 

 

All present discussed Ed Evans memorial shield, family would like it to be related to Surf Ski, KB to find out more. 

 

 

 

 

Next meeting will be  taking place on Wednesday 6th February in the
