SOUTHERNDOWN SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB
MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING JANUARY 10TH 2007
Present : Wil, Paul, Jane, Ann, Bev, James, Delyth, Richard.
Apologies : Karen.
Fundraising.
Tesco collection - special thanks to Karen, Wil, Charl, Sophie, Jo, Angharad and Dan. They collected in excess of £400.
The junior/nipper sponsored swim has raised £360.
Christmas Party- not very well attended, 22 tickets sold with a £300 loss.
Some money collected from the bonus ball but not very successful.
James and Fi did the Porthcawl Christmas Day Swim and raised £200.
New Year?s Day dip- £61 collected on the beach, still collecting sponsor money. Letter to be sent to Caroline Thomas?s employers to thank them for their support. Should maybe consider a car park collection next year and also advertise the event more. Would have to check with Heritage Coast. Karen is going to send copies of our newsletter to the Earl of Dunraven and the Heritage coast.
Fi has set up a design a t-shirt competition for the nipper/juniors. £1.50 to enter, winner gets a free t-shirt, winning design to be made up to sell.
Suggestion for a 2008 calendar to raise funds.
Some money has been collected for Karyn.

Water has been restored in the shower block and hut. Had been turned off by the men?s showers. Email to be sent to Dave Jennings about the heaters not working.
Wil
Everyone taking their Bronze has passed so far. 2 more weeks of exams and then nars starts.
Wants a list of all those not paying so he can check up on those turning up to swimming sessions.
An article and photograph was published in the Gem about the New Year?s Day dip. Maybe set up a website so that the public can make donations to the club.
2 swimming sessions had to be cancelled. Friday, January 5th, the pool was locked. Sunday, January 7th the pool was contaminated. Jane to request refund.
Phil
Dave Jennings requesting a full set of keys for every door so that emergency work can be carried out. Unhappy that the shutters aren?t being used. No lock at present. Best to have same key for door and shutter, otherwise will need 24 door keys and 24 shutter keys.
Tesco vouchers sent with order, no equipment arrived yet.
